🎮 GT board won’t go past ECO mode – is it the remote?Updated 10 days ago

If you have an original GT board and both your remotes (original R2 and Phaze) won’t go past ECO mode, the issue is unlikely to be the remotes themselves.

When a GT board is stuck in ECO mode, it’s often related to the battery condition, not the remote.

🔋 Why this happens

On GT boards, when the battery voltage drops or becomes unbalanced, the board can enter a protective state. This can:

  • Prevent you from leaving ECO mode

  • Limit top speed

  • Cause reduced performance

If two different remotes show the same behaviour, the battery is the first thing to check.

🧪 How to check the battery (10-cell screen test)

You can check the battery balance using either the R2 remote or a compatible Phaze WiFi remote.

Step-by-step:

  1. Turn the board and remote on and make sure they are paired

  2. Open the main menu on the remote

  3. Scroll down and select More Info

  4. From the More Info screen:

    • Press and hold the UP / MODE1 button

    • While holding, double-tap the blue ON/OFF button

  5. The screen will display:

    • Total voltage

    • Amperage

    • Voltage of the 10 individual cells

Take a clear photo of this screen and send it to our team for review.

🔧 Do we repair remotes?

  • Phaze remotes can be repaired (at cost, excluding shipping)

  • Older R2 remotes are no longer repairable

However, if both remotes behave the same way, repairing the remote will not fix the issue. The battery must be assessed first.

📩 What to do next

Send us a photo of the 10-cell screen and we’ll confirm whether your battery is healthy or needs replacement.

If you’re unsure which remote version you have, let us know and we’ll guide you.
