Can I reverse or come to a complete stop on a hill with my board?Updated a day ago
No Evolve board has a reverse function. They’re designed for forward momentum, with no built-in capability to go backwards.
When it comes to stopping on a hill, especially if you’re strapped into bindings(Renegade), the board won’t come to a complete stop like a car with a handbrake. The motors will resist and slow the board down significantly, but you may still experience a slight roll.
Why can’t it hold position on a slope?
Evolve boards use brushless DC motors with regenerative braking. These apply electrical resistance to slow you down, but don’t physically lock the wheels in place. There’s no mechanical brake or clutch system, so the motors can’t hold the board completely still on a steep incline.
If you’re riding with bindings, we recommend keeping one foot loose when stopping on a hill so you can steady yourself.
