GT - Reduced RangeUpdated 2 years ago

Many factors can affect overall range, from riding style, the substrate ridden on, the environment, ambient temperature, battery age, tyre pressure, rider weight and the list goes on. If you have seen a sharp decrease in range or believe your range hasn't been affected by one of these factors, read on.

Ambient Temperature

Batteries perform best around 25C˚  and are what the advertised range is based on.

In general for the cell sizes we use, at 10C˚  a lithium-ion battery loses about 25% of its power and at 0C˚  it can be as much as 50%. If you are riding in temperatures of 15C˚  or below you will likely see a reduction in range.

Tyre Pressure

All-Terrain tyre pressure must be monitored regularly. The PSI should sit between 40 and 50. Having low pressures will reduce range and this is the most common cause of range concerns. Tyres at 20 PSI can easily halve your range.

Other

If you believe that the concern lies with the board and is not related to the factors above, please perform a battery health test as below, then send the details along with your findings to your regional distributor for further diagnosis.

R2 Remote
  1. Charge the board to full.
  2. Pair the board and remote, and ensure Fast or GT mode is selected.
  3. Open the 'More Info' screen, by double-tapping the ON/OFF button, scroll down to the ‘More Info’ and tap the ON/OFF button to enter.
  4. Hold in the UP/MODE1 button at the same time as double-tapping the ON/OFF button.
  5. Take a photo of the screen (it should read total voltage, amperage draw and the voltage for 10 individual cells).
  6. Please do a ‘load test’ by riding the board up a hill or if AT, on a high resistance surface like grass and aim for 20amps of draw for 10 seconds. Take another photo (or video) of the cell screen whilst doing the load test.
GT Remote
  1. Charge the board to full.
  2. Connect the remote and select Fast or GT mode.
  3. Go into the ‘More Info’ tab on the remote by double-tapping the left button, scroll down to ‘More Info’ with the left button again and click the right button to enter.
  4. Whilst in the 'More Info' screen, double-tap the right button, then press and hold the left button.
  5. Take a photo of the screen, that displays the total voltage, amperage draw and the voltage for 10 individual cells.
  6. Please do a ‘load test’ by riding the board up a hill and aim for 20amps of draw for 10 seconds. Take another photo (or video) of the cell screen whilst doing the load test.
